Makes: 12 Rolls Oven: 180 °C / 350 °F
Preparation Time: 1 hour 10 minutes Baking Time: 25 – 30 minutes
Ingredients
| 500 | g | Flour |
| 7 | ml | Salt (1 tsp) |
| 5 | ml | Sugar (1 tsp) |
| 30 | g | Margarine |
| 10 | g | Anchor Instant Yeast (1 packet) |
Filling
| 60 | g | Margarine |
| 20 | ml | Garlic |
| 5 | ml | Mixed herbs |
Method
- In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together. Add the margarine and rub it into the flour using your fingertips. Add the Anchor Instant Yeast and mix well.
- Gradually add the lukewarm water to the flour mixture to form a soft dough. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic – about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough back onto a lightly floured surface, cover with greased plastic wrap, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Knock down the dough and roll it out into a 20 cm square.
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough up tightly into a long strand, like a Swiss roll. Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 12 equal slices – using two fingers as a guide for thickness.
- Arrange the slices slightly apart on a greased baking tray.
- Cover with greased plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size – about 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C / 350 °F for 20 – 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
